We kept our promise: Ekua got her bike
Back in February of 2025 while riding across Ghana I had an encounter with a man and his daughter which changed my view on cycling.
The girl I had the pleasure to meet was Ekua, a 12 year old girl with a blood sickness called Sickle Cell. Her biggest dream was to own a track bike so she would be faster. I promised her to get her a bike.
When I returned to Germany I tried to raise money so I could fulfill my promise to her. One of my Colleagues had a spare track bike she wanted to donate to Ekua and I am forever grateful she did. On top another colleague donated a helmet and tires as well. Thank you so much Michaela and Fin. Also thanks to everyone who donated. I used the money to pay for shipment of the bike and goods for the NGO.
